It is a fact, people are carrying less cash. Churches have noticed this and have made some changes in how donations are being received at the local house of worship. Marcia Frellick writing for Fox Business.com: ” Choices have expanded to include swiping a debit or credit card on PIN-protected, ATM-like kiosks in a church lobby, giving electronically by logging in to a church website and even pressing mobile phone buttons to make an offering.”
Many churches accept only debit card transactions, trying to discourage the build up of debt for their congregation, but many people, especially the young are more comfortable making electronic transfers and there is the added benefits of receiving your receipt automatically.
